David Hampton: A Colourful Perspective

4 Mar - 28 Mar @ Pencil Tree Gallery [ Art & Design ]

David Hampton: A Colourful Perspective Exhibition
David's work sits comfortably alongside the greats of Modern British C20th art such as Frost, Nicholson, Scott, Lanyon. The paintings are contemporary, playful & individual; David’s use of colour owes much to his love of Matisse.

We are very lucky to be showing a selection of David’s art from 1950 (when he was at the Royal College of Art) to 2018. Each painting is very much of the time it was produced, making this exhibition a fascinating journey through nearly 70 years of Modern British art.

This incredible talent has lived in Bath since 1988 and this year will celebrate his 98th birthday! David still draws & paints every single day, alongside memorising poetry to keep this brain working

After attending Kingston Art School he won a place at the Royal College of Art.  From there he has exhibited in Cork Street, London; had works shown at the Royal Academy as well as many other highly respected institutions. David also taught art at various art colleges, schools & 20 years at the London College of Fashion.
