Friday 24 – Saturday 25 May
Every year Alabaré run fantastic fundraising events and we are delighted to partner with them to bring you the very first Star Gazing BIG Sleep. The event takes place overnight on Friday 24th May to early morning on Saturday 25th May. Participants (from 8 years up with responsible adults) are invited to bed down for the night under the stars (no tents) to gain some appreciation of sleeping rough for one night. There will be the chance to take part in a Moonlit Walk late at night to experience the darkness, the walk will be led by Actor Pippa Haywood who will recite carefully selected poems to provoke thoughts about the night we are about to encounter. A star gazing talk will also be laid on for any enthusiasts.
Alabaré is a charity providing housing, support and training to people who are homeless, vulnerable or struggling with their mental wellbeing. Alabaré was founded in Salisbury in 1991 by a Christian community out of the simple act of providing shelter and safety to a homeless man. Today over 2,000 people are supported by the charity each year throughout the southwest and Wales.
