Step into the festive spirit with our Christmas Special Workshop at Caisson Gardens, where we’ll craft personalised holiday cards and gift wrap using the traditional art of linocut printing, led by the very talented and award winning print-maker, Jemma Gunning.

Plan of the day

Morning Session 10-12.30am – Introduction to Linocut Printmaking

Learn the basics of linocut printing, a fantastic technique that is perfect for creating unique Christmas cards, gift tags, and wrapping paper. Explore various design ideas and techniques, from carving intricate patterns to mastering the art of negative space. Lunch Break – 12.30-1.30

Enjoy a delicious, light vegetarian lunch with produce from the garden that is provided. (Do let us know your dietary requirements on the booking form) Afternoon Session – 1.30 – 3.30pm Printmaking

Put your designs to paper as you learn how to print your festive linocuts onto cards, tags, and paper. Experiment with different inks, colours, and papers to create a variety of festive designs and patterns. Reflection and Clean Up – 3.30pm – 4pm with tea and homemade cake

Gather for a reflective session, sharing your creations and experiences from the day. Celebrate the joy of creativity and the holiday spirit as you admire the diverse range of handmade cards, tags, and wrapping paper crafted by the group.

Performers, Hosts & Artists

emma Gunning is an award-winning printmaker known for her intricate and evocative intaglio prints. Her work, characterised by themes of decay, changing environments and the passage of time, highlights the beauty in imperfection and overlooked details. With years of experience and numerous exhibitions, Jemma brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her teaching, inspiring students to explore the depths of intaglio printmaking. Jemma is an elected member of the Royal Society of Painter printmakers (RE) and is a Royal West of England Academician (RWA). Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, earning her a reputation as a significant voice in contemporary printmaking.
