Beth Kirby - INHABIT

17 MIDLAND ROAD is delighted to present INHABIT, a process driven part-residency, part-performance, part-participant piece, taking place on the ground floor over one week in October 2024. For INHABIT, Kirby will re-create her Bristol studio and workplace, gradually filling all the surfaces of the gallery with sketches, paintings and mark marking around the theme of the human form. A roster of professional life models and volunteer members of the public will join the artist in the gallery throughout the week, where preliminary drawings will go on to bear new life as the final pieces for the exhibition as the week progresses. Throughout the period, the artist will be viewable from outside through the windows of the closed gallery. Kirby’s work regularly discusses the theme of the body, and our relationship to it, both on a personal level and in through the public eye, exploring every corner in forensic detail. The project hopes to push boundaries of this exploration - by drawing the bodies of strangers in an intimate way, by working exhaustively to represent all manner of forms

Entry requirements: no age restrictions Public exhibition 12th-13th October 11am-4pm
